Paul also earned a master’s degree in business administration with a concentration on finance at Baltimore’s Johns Hopkins University, where he was elected to two terms as president of the Carey Business School’s Finance Club.
In 2017, Paul served as a guest lecturer at the Michigan State University School of Journalism, where he earlier earned a master’s degree and was inducted into the Kappa Tau Alpha honor society for academic excellence and scholarship in journalism and mass communication. He also worked as a graduate assistant at the school and as a communications intern at the National Cancer Institute. His master’s degree thesis focused on how best to reach various demographic groups with potentially life-saving cancer information in Washington, D.C. While in graduate school, he served as an intern in the Capitol Bureau of WDIV-TV, the NBC station in Detroit, and at a news radio station in Michigan’s capital of Lansing.
Before earning his two graduate degrees, Paul received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, where he focused on political science, business and economics. He also served as a reporter and an editor at a student newspaper, as well as the host of a public radio program about how to prepare for careers in fields such as health care and engineering.
Paul has won many journalism awards, including several from the Maryland-Delaware-DC Press Association, an APEX National Editorial award from the Newsletter Publishers Association, a “Journalist of the Year” Award from Phillips Business Information (now Access Intelligence) and others.
