Equatorial Energia is a holding company. Through its subsidiaries, Co. operates in the energy sector in Brazil. In the distribution segment, Co. controls Companhia Energetica do Maranhao, the sole concession operator in the State of Maranhao and Centrais Eletricas do Para S.A., the sole concession operator in the State of Para. In the generation segment, Co. held a 25.0% interest in Geradora de Energia do Norte S.A., which operated two thermoelectric power plants located in Maranhao at Dec 31 2014. In the marketing segment, Co. held indirectly at Dec 31 2014 a 51.0% interest in Sol Energias, an energy trading company and developer of products and services.
