Gruma is a holding company. Through its subsidiaries, Co. is engaged in the production of corn flour, which is used to make tortillas, tamales, enchiladas, chips, as well as different flatbreads. Co.'s products are produced, marketed, and sold in Mexico, Costa Rica, the United States, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Ecuador and Europe. In Central America, Co. produces rice, and has an agriculture related businesses engaged in harvesting hearts of palm and producing preservatives. Through its subsidiaries, Co. is also engaged in the design, manufacture and commercialization of tortilla machines and related equipment which are sold to supermarkets.
