Until 1993, the Company was engaged in the repair of aircraft turbine engine components and the purchasing, processing and selling of specialty refractory metals. By August 1993, competitive pressure from the aircraft turbine engine original equipment manufacturers forced the Company to discontinue operations in that market. Additionally, low levels of demand, surplus domestic capacity, and increased competition from imports reduced the Company's profit margins in the specialty refractory metals business to below the break-even level. As a result, the Company began to downsize its existing operations and aggressively search for new opportunities or replacements for its existing businesses. Currently the Company has no active business.
