AquaBounty Technologies is conducting research and development of the commercial viability of a group of proteins commonly known as antifreeze proteins. Co. has the licensing rights for a gene construct (transgene) used to create a breed of farm-raised Atlantic salmon. Co. has obtained regulatory approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for the production and sale of its genetically engineered AquAdvantage salmon product (GE Atlantic salmon) in the U.S.; from Health Canada for the production and sale of its GE Atlantic salmon product in Canada; and from National Biosafety Technical Commission for the sale of its GE Atlantic salmon product in Brazil.
