The Ultimate List of Dividend Champions — 141 Stocks With Over 25 Consecutive Years of Dividend Increases

By: ,

the ultimate list of dividend champions

The dividend champions are an exclusive group of companies that have increased their annual dividend distribution for more than 25 consecutive years.

Unlike the Dividend Aristocrats that must also have a minimum market capitalization of $3 billion and maintain membership in the S&P 500, the only requirement for a company to join the Dividend Champions is the 25-year streak of consecutive dividend increases. Eliminating the prior two requirements makes the list considerably larger — it grows from 65 stocks to 141.

David Fish developed the Dividend Champions list and first published the spreadsheet in December 2007. In addition to developing and maintaining the U.S. Dividend Champions spreadsheet for more than a decade, Mr. Fish was a long-time contributor to Seeking Alpha and other online investment outlets. After Mr. Fish passed away in May 2018, Justin Law took over the task of managing and publishing the Champions list.

This list of Dividend Champions offers income investors a starting place to further develop their portfolio. With every stock on the list maintaining a long streak of consecutive dividend increases, the likelihood of dividend cuts and reductions — although still present — is considerably lower.

Investors looking to narrow the list down further should read our articles on the Dividend Aristocrats and Dividend Kings. The latter is restricted to companies with consecutive dividend increases numbering over 50 years.

As always, we encourage investors to do their due diligence and research any stocks vying for a place in their portfolio. Tools to make this task more efficient include the Dividend Screener from DividendInvestor.com and Stock Rover, a high-powered program for technical analysis.
